Professional Contemporary Dance in Los Angeles
Former Contemporary Modern Dance Cooperative Committee President, Chelsea Asman, is a native of Southern California. A graduate of Chapman University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance, she has danced with Invertigo Dance Theatre, Diavolo Dance Theatre's Education Company, and has been a member of METHOD Contemporary Dance Company since 2007. In 2013, Chelsea joined Kairos Dance Company in an evening-length work performed in Ogden, Utah, and has continued to perform with the company throughout Los Angeles. Last spring Chelsea completed her first semester as adjunct faculty at Fullerton College where she taught beginning hip-hop dance. Currently, Chelsea is a member of the dance faculty for The Gabriella Foundation teaching various dance styles and age groups at Gabriella Charter School, as well as in their after school program, Everybody Dance! She recently joined the faculty at Loyola Marymount University where she teaches Modern Dance I. Chelsea returns annually to Nevada Joint Union High School in Grass Valley, CA. There she teaches master classes and sets choreography on their advanced dancers. Chelsea’s work has been shown at MixMatch Dance Festival and was selected for Transient Truths, and Not Quite Love Stories thematic showcases. Chelsea is a Master Trainer, certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the National Exercise and Sports Training Association. She is also a certified instructor for Les Mills Body Pump, Nike Training Club, and TRX Suspension Training. Last spring Chelsea begins received her MFA in dance from University of Irvine, CA.
